About Me

First things first, let me introduce myself as a newcomer to the world of blogging.

I have always loved to write. My passion for writing led me down the path of English Literature in college and later, after graduation, it led me down the path of Public Relations and Communications. Incorporating writing into my career seemed like a natural fit and, for the most part, I enjoy it. But, writing for a career is, and will always be, only one piece of the puzzle. As much as I enjoy to write, I also enjoy expressing who I am through the written or, in this case, typed word. There is something about sharing my thoughts, feelings and general points of view that makes me feel complete. A blog was  and is the missing piece to my puzzle.

When I first started, I instantly fell in love with sharing my thoughts with whomever was kind enough to read them. I love painting pictures with words (caution: I’m flowery). It was smooth sailing for a few months. Then life got in the way and my blog got lost in the shuffle. I stopped writing, stopped posting and as each day passed I realized how much I really missed it and how blogging had truly become a part of my identity.

The reasons for my “vacation” are neither here nor there, I’m just happy to find myself back in my comfort zone. In my second attempt to become a blogger, I’m bound and determined to make it work. No more excuses, no more “I’ll get to it later” and most importantly, no more lofty expectations of becoming the ideal blogger. When I first started blogging I was unemployed. That’s not longer the case (thank god) so I know that updating my blog every single day is not likely to happen.

When I write, everything makes sense but you have to know that not everything I write makes sense. I make mistakes, my grammar isn’t always spot-on and, sometimes I get so excited thinking about my next sentence that I miss a word or two. But, I love to write and I know that I’m a good writer. I cannot promise that every post will be perfect but I can promise that you will be entertained.

So now, a little bit about me:

Name: Genevieve Jooste

Age: A woman never reveals her age

Countries I’ve lived in: 4 (South Africa, England, Australia and the United States)

Profession: I’m the Social Media Coordinator for The Allen Tate Company

Favorite food: If I’ll be honest, I love, and I mean LOVE, food in general (just ask my parents). I’ll pretty much eat anything you put in front of me besides raw tomatoes, olives, tuna fish and mushrooms.

Favorite music: Right now, I’m listening to Mumford & Sons, The Avett Brothers, Sara Bareilles, The Killers, Bruno Mars and Maroon 5. But just so you know, I’ll always love and listen to Queen.

Favorite books: I’m a huge reader so this is tough. Some of my faves are Pride and Prejudice, Beach Music, The Help, The Da Vinci Code and I’ll read anything written by Maeve Binchy.

I can’t live without: My friends/family (they make me laugh, keep me sane and have made me who I am), my Droid and iPod (sad but true, plus I needed something not cheesy after that last comment)

Dream profession: Singer. I pretend sometimes (mostly in my karaoke car and the shower)

Favorite TV shows of the moment: Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, The Office, yes, I’m a reality TV junkie (everyone has their vices) and I will always, ALWAYS love LOST.
